Sakti, The indefinite strike of National Health Mission (NHM) employees in district Sakti continued for the 22nd day. The employees, who have been agitating for their demands for a long time, are now trying to convey their point to the government in a constructive way.

Today, the striking employees ran a campaign in the pandal “Roti-Struggle-Give Respect in lieu of Service”. Under this campaign, the employees expressed their displeasure by getting messages like ‘Respect’, ‘Justice’ and ‘Guarantee’ written on the rotis. They say that this symbolic demonstration is a way to effectively convey their pain and demands to the government.

The employees allege that they have been the backbone of the state’s health services for the last two decades, but they have not yet got the benefit of regularization. Along with this, they are also deprived of basic rights like removal of salary discrepancy and improvement in service conditions. The strikers said that their struggle is only for the security of their future.

A striking employee said, “Secure our bread, respect our service. We are ready to serve the people of the state, but we also want proper rights and respect.”

The employees reminded the government of their 10-point demands, which include issues like regularization, equal pay, improvement of service conditions and permanent appointment. The strikers warned that the agitation will continue until their demands are met.

Despite disruption in health services, the NHM employees are adamant, calling their fight for rights justified.
